That's a well-known principle of life that many people have discovered. If you don't like something, and it doesn't make you happy, why would you want to have it in your life? You wouldnt, I'd hope!

Now that you know this unique principle, can you stop focusing on things you don't want? A friend of mine told me a story. He's retired now, but when he was teaching classes on how the human mind works, he asked a group of people in a large class, to think of a number from 1 to 10. Then, think of carrot, and then select a color.

From listening to the audio of the class, I recognized that he was using a mind game to lead them in a certain direction. The majority of the people chose 7, carrot, orange! I knew what he was doing, and more than 90% of the group got all 3 correct, and voila he'd given them confirmation of their mind power. Sure, it was a game, but he was expanded their minds in just one minute to believe that they were powerful intuits. He continued.

He said, I've just demonstrated how intuitive you can be without even trying. Next, he asked the students to recall their favorite moments with their family, when they were kids, and everyone was smiling. Then, he asked everyone to remember their first kiss and everyone had big grins. He continued with stimulating memories: the first time we made love, the most passionate time we made love, and then everyone was moving in their seats.

Arm Toning Exercises - 4 Ways To Make Them More Effective

Have you been doing your arm toning exercises the average way? If so, you are most likely getting average results. And who wants that?

You can forget about abs in 10 minutes, or 30lbs in 10 days. Seriously. Now don't get me wrong, it is possible to get accelerate results. BUT you have to apply a lot of intensity in the right way to do so.

Unfortunately, the female body is very smart, extremely smart. It adapts to any type of stimulus (including exercise) with lightening speed.

So today I am going to show you how to manipulate your arm toning exercises so that your body doesn't adapt:

1. Focusing on the negative portion of an exercise. The negative portion is when the muscle lengthens. In other words, when it is not contracting. This can be described as when the weight comes up. You need a partner to help you do the positive portion (the contraction) and you should do the negative portion all by yourself.

2. Drop it like it's hot sets: What are drop sets??? A series of 3 sets for the same exercise without any rest. You start with a heavy weight, then a lighter one and finally, the lightest one. Doing so will completely deplete your arms which translates into super fast toning.

3. Repetitions that are forced. How do you do more repetitions once your arms are completely depleted? With a partner of course! Have somebody help you do a couple more repetitions once your arm muscles are shot. Now make sure your form doesn't deviate even though you are depleted.

4. Using a 5/5 tempo or cadence. If you are doing a biceps curl, for instance, you would spend 5 seconds bringing the barbell up and another 5 seconds bringing it down. Why is this so effective? Because you are putting your arm muscles under constant tension. It will burn like nothing else, but it will also get you faster results like nothing else.

Do not do your arm toning exercises with an average level of effort. If you do, you'll get average results. And who wants to be average? I'm sure you don't. Implement these advanced techniques and you'll take your arm workouts (and results) to the next level. Guaranteed.

Head Lice - Lousy Little Parasites!

INTRODUCTION: Head lice (Pediculus capitis) are small parasitic insects well adapted to living primarily on the scalp and neck hairs of human host. They are mainly acquired by direct head-to-head contact with an infested person's hair, but may occasionly be transferred through the use of shared combs, hats and other hair accessories.

They get their nutrients by blood-feeding once or twice each day, and cannot survive for more than a day or so at room temperature without ready access to human blood. These parasites can survive up to 30 days on a human holding on to hair with hook-like claws found at the end of each of their six legs. They are rarely found on the body, eyelashes, or eyebrows and rarely (if ever) cause direct harm, or transmit infectious agents from person-to-person. Head lice are equal opportunity parasites that do not respect socio-economic class distinctions and can infest people of all ages, but children are prone to infestations because of their habit of playing in close contact, sharing hats, headphones, combs and brushes, sleeping bags, stuffed animals, and clothing.

NITS: Head lice eggs are called nits and are laid by the adult female at the base of the hair shaft closest the scalp and look sort of like dandruff, only they can't be gotten rid of by brushing or shaking them off. The eggs hatch about 7 to 11 days after they are laid. Eggs further than 1/4 inch away from the scalp have probably already hatched. Nits are most effectively gotten rid of by combing the hair with a specially designed nit comb. The eggs can be distinguished from dandruff flakes as they are very adherent to the hair shaft, whereas dandruff can be easily moved along the hair shaft.

INFESTATION: Contact with an already infested person is the most frequent way to become infected with head lice. Less commonly, Wearing clothing, such as hats, scarves, coats, sports uniforms, or hair ribbons, recently worn by an infested person. There are 4 critical steps to managing an infestation: the use of an effective head louse treatment; nit removal from the scalp (combing); removal of lice and nits from the household environment by vacuuming, washing, or freezing objects suspected of being infested; and daily head checks and nit removal until infestation is gone, followed by weekly head inspections to detect re-infestation. The MD should be able to tell you if your child is infested with lice and requires treatment.

TREATMENT: Treatment should be considered ONLY when active lice or viable eggs are observed. A treatment can cause significant side effects in children younger than 6 months old, the elderly, and anyone weighing less than 110 lbs (50 kg), especially when it is used repeatedly over a short period of time. If your child is 2 years old or under, you should not use medicated treatments. Your child's doctor may recommend repeating treatment in 7 to 10 days to make sure all the nits have been killed and to avoid any risk of reinfestation. Treatments may be over-the-counter or prescription medications, depending on what has already been tried. It isn't uncommon for treatments to be unsuccessful because of incorrect use or because the lice may be resistant to the chemical in the shampoo. Following the directions on the product label is also important to ensure that the it works properly.

Medicated shampoos can usually kill the lice and nits, but it may take a few days for the itching to stop. Some don'ts include: Don't use a hair dryer on your child's hair after applying any of the currently available scalp shampoos, because some contain flammable ingredients. Don't wash your child's hair for 1 to 2 days after using a medicated shampoo. Be patient and follow the protocol and preventative tips as directed by your child's doctor for keeping the bugs at bay, and you'll be well on your way to keeping your family lice-free.

If you feel like you're following all the recommendations and your child still has lice, it may be because of one or more of the following: there are still some nits remaining behind, your child is still being exposed to someone else with lice, the shampoo you're using isn't working. If your child still has lice for 2 weeks after you began treatment or if your child's scalp looks infected (with pus or sores), contact your child's MD. Vacuuming the carpets, upholstery, and car seats will take care of any lice that fell off before treatment began.

CONCLUSION: Head lice infect hair on the scalp and are more common in close, overcrowded living conditions. Infestation produces intense itching, but does not lead to a serious medical condition. They can be spread when infested hair brushes or combs are shared or when infested bedding, towels or shower caps are shared. Head lice is a growing problem because lice-killing medicines are becoming less effective. Every year, between 6 and 12 million people worldwide become infested. Children ages 3-11 and their families become infested most frequently. Pets are of no significance in transmitting human lice, and should not be treated.

The 3-day cardiac diet we are talking about specifically limits calorie intake while calling for a high protein diet of lean meat and plenty of servings of vegetables. While lacking on carbohydrates, it is still a nutrient dense diet with all that meat and vegetables you are supposed to eat.

Stick to the diet for three days only - not any shorter or longer. You risk affecting your health and slowing down metabolism if extended past three days. The calorie and nutrition provided is not advisable for long term use.

Lunch will be a mixture of tuna and salad. On the first two days, you may have a half a cup of water packed tuna, and a generous serving of salad. Keep in mind, though, that the salad must be all vegetables - no cheese or croutons. Make sure to use olive oil as your dressing, and you can indulge a bit with the olive oil since you need the good fats for proper metabolism. On the third day, you may increase your protein in the form of tuna - to a full cup.

Dinner is when you will be eating your portion of lean meat for the day. Just make sure it is not breaded or slathered on with sauce. Your choice meat must be accompanied by a serving of two kinds of vegetables. These must be served steamed and flavored with some butter. Don't skip the butter, but do skip any additional sauce.

Carbohydrates are a no no. Starchy foods like bread, pasta or potatoes are not allowed on the 3-Day Cardiac Diet. This is a crucial reason behind the easy weight loss achieved in the meal plan.

It is also important to drink at least 64 ounces of water each day. Follow everything prescribed and in just three days you'll see a big difference. It is for only three short days so might as well stay with it.

Stick to the 3-day cardiac-diet and you will lose weight. To keep the pounds off, make sure you follow through with a sensible, long term eating plan supported by regular exercise.

If you can, walk to work, and if you can't because your office is too far away, park further away from your building (about 15 minutes' worth), and walk the rest of the way. Again, walking should always be fun. To change things up a little bit, plan a route that's going to end somewhere you want to be. Go visit a friend, go shopping at your favorite grocery store, or visit your favorite park. Change your route out every day, and make the destination its own reward. If you don't want to go to the park, you can pick up a few groceries as you need to, or you can see the next big movie that's out at your local movie theater. Of course, you're scheduling this walk with your weight loss goal in mind. When you reach your goal, you can give yourself an extra special treat for all you've accomplished.

3. Use wide glasses when drinking good liquids. And tall thin glasses when drinking calories. People poor 30% more liquid into short and wide glasses versus tall and thin glasses. Why does this happen? Because the same amount of liquid looks like less in a short and wide glass.

4. Use the same plate over and over again at the buffet. Why should you do this? Because as your plates are cleared away at the buffet, you lose your visual cue for how much you have already eaten. Studies have shown that people will eat 25% more because of this effect.

Effective Plan To Help Build Muscles

You know that any real success story comes with a plan of action before hand. That goes for working out just as much as it does for anything else. You have to be willing to plan out your exercises before you do them if you are going to achieve quality results.

Versatility is the first step. You have to try out different workouts and routines to figure out which ones will really help you. This may take a little time, but its well worth it. You don't want to spend any more time than you have to on a routine that wont benefit your body.

Once you figure out what type of routine to use, you have to be sure that you understand the right way to do each of the exercises. Anytime you work with the human body, you have to know the ins and outs of what you're doing. One false move can lead to serious injury, so be sure to get as much training as you can.

You have to know your body's limitations. Just because you think you can lift a lot of weight doesnt mean your arms can. It may feel like you aren't doing any work, but pushing yourself too hard will only hurt you in the long run. Its better to do something slowly and correctly than quickly and risky.

Pushing yourself a little bit is fine, and really that's the only way you'll ever get stronger. But don't push too far! All of your efforts will be wasted if you have to spend your toned days in the hospital.

Be sure to alternate you workouts everyday, never doing multiple weight routines back to back. Try jogging one day and weight the next to give your muscles a chance to grow and recover. That's when the strength really starts to show.

You need to eat enough foods to balance what you are burning. Have a diet full of calories so your body will have enough energy to exercise. Don't overeat, of course, but don't starve yourself either. You cant lose weight if your body has nothing to burn.

Always think about the future. You will be surprised how much a little bit of personal encouragement can really improve your results. Stay true to your plan and follow through with every step, even if it seems a little hard. Don't push yourself too hard, but stay motivated enough to reach your goals. You'll be a much fitter and better person for it.
